Obituary of Marian Csikar (Reid)

In Loving Memory

Mrs. Marian Csikar (Reid) of Simcoe. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marian peacefully with family by her side at the Norfolk General Hospital on Sunday, December 23, 2018 in her 95th year. Born in Plainsfield, NJ, she was the first child of Lloyd and Lillian (Cape) Leask. Valedictorian graduate of SCS and business school in Simcoe. She met Bob Reid in the SCS choir and worked in the office of American Can until he returned from serving in the WWII navy. Marian also served as trustee for the Norfolk County School Board.  While raising four children on a tobacco farm in Lynedoch, she gardened, canned, sewed family clothes, cooked for harvest gangs, sang in church choirs and for the Treble Clefs.  After Bob’s early passing, Marian went on to meet the second love of her life, Leslie Csikar. They enjoyed over 40 years together dancing and travelling on trips to Scotland, Hungary, Cuba, the United States and Canada. In her later years, Les was a loving husband and caregiver. Beloved wife of Les Csikar and the Late W. Robert Reid (1973). Loving mother of Sandra Reid (Ray), David Reid (Susan) and Scott Reid, and mother in law of Merris Reid. Cherished grandmother of Shelley Jarvis (Stuart), Carla Bedard (Bryan), Arleen Lauzon (Dennis), Robert Reid, Steven Reid (Jodee), Meagan Reid and Garrett Reid, and great grandmother to Taylor, Logan, Zander, Keegan, Carley, Daria and Raylynn. Dearest sister in law of Donna Leask. Predeceased by her son, Allan Reid (2017) and by her brothers, Lloyd Leask (Late Jean) and James Leask.   Marian’s inner strength and will to live life to its fullest is an inspiration to family and friends.  Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 for visitation on Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ted Smith officiating.
