Obituary of John Lohmann
In Loving Memory
Mr. Johann “John” Lohmann, formerly of Delhi , passed away at the Victoria Hospital , London , on Friday, November 29, 2024 in his 87th year. John was born on December 18, 1937, in Nagyszekely, Hungary. His family fled to Germany after WWII where they lived for several years before immigrating to Canada in 1953. Upon arriving they crossed the country to explore living out west in Calgary, Alberta and Richmond BC. In time, John decided to put down his roots in the Delhi area where he was reunited with the love of his life, Betty. They married and had two daughters. He began working at Massey Ferguson until joining Betty’s parents on their farm at RR#2 Otterville. From that day on John was a hard-working tobacco farmer and had found a true calling for the next 30 years. In his home life, John was a loving and dedicated husband and father. He enjoyed spending time taking day trips and visiting Florida with them during the winter. John was a music lover. His home was filled with sounds of his accordion and organ, which he very often played to a regular crowd of dear friends and neighbours who enjoyed a glass of wine and good food while listening. John filled his retirement years living in Delhi on a beautiful property where he lovingly tended to his garden and trees. He got enjoyment out of building birdhouses and watching nature around him. He also got a big kick out of his constant companion cat, Rocky, whose antics and affections filled his heart. John spent his final days living in the Village of Glendale Crossing in London. He embraced and took full advantage of the opportunity to try new activities and make new friends. John lived his life to the fullest always showing kindness, resilience and strength in every situation. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and those whose lives he touched. Beloved husband of the Late Betty (Szombathelyi) Lohmann (2022). Loving father of Pat Loncke (Ken) and Debbie Hopkins.
