It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Matthew Silva on September 22, 2024, a talented and beloved individual, who left us far too soon at the age of 34. Born and raised in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Matthew's journey began on December 19, 1989. Where he graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 2008. In 2010, he moved to Canada to be closer to his family, embracing new opportunities and challenges.
Matthew was a skilled craftsman, dedicating himself to the world of commercial contracting. He began his career at Build IT by Design, later teaming up with his brother-in-law to start a finish carpentry business. For the past five years, he thrived at Terrana Construction, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and supervisors alike. Known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment, he was often referred to as the "go-to guy" by his boss.
On November 19, 2016, Matthew married the love of his life, Filipa Valadao. Together, they welcomed their son, Roger Phillip Silva, into the world on August 23, 2016. Matthew had dreams of building a large family and often spoke of his aspiration to become a pediatrician, driven by his love for children and desire to make a difference in their lives. Beloved son of Jose and Maria (Macedo) Silva. Loving brother of Melisa Silva (Ricardo Rodrigues). Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many other family members.
Matthew learned the art of construction from his uncles, mastering the ability to build a home from the ground up. His creativity and passion for his work were matched only by his dreams and ideas for the future. Known affectionately as "Peewee" during his youth, he remained a cherished friend and mentor to many.
Matthew leaves behind a loving family, countless friends, and colleagues who will miss his infectious spirit and unwavering dedication. He will forever hold a place in our hearts and souls, remembered for his kindness, ambition, and the dreams he shared with us all. Matthew was not only talented but also brought joy to those around him. He had an infectious smile, a quick wit, and a talent for making others laugh. He was a peacemaker, never one to speak ill of anyone and always striving to bring harmony to every situation.
Matthew will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and co-workers. His warmth, humor, and spirit will forever remain in our hearts and souls.
Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Emmanuel Bible Church, Simcoe on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. Noon. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Waterford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association~Norfolk in Matthew's Memory.
