Obituary of Linda Yurcich

In Loving Memory

It is with deep sorrow that we wish to announce the passing of Linda ‘Sharon’ Yurcich on August 19, 2024 – Night of the Blue Moon – at 8:50 p.m. at VON Sakura House, Woodstock, with husband, Joseph, and son, Nicholas, at her side. Sharon was born in Perth, Ontario on May 2, 1947. Sharon was a nurse at Woodstock General Hospital, married Joseph in 1970 and together they started farming. During the Tobacco decline, she got a job as administrator of Heritage Lodge Retirement Home in Simcoe. She was one of a kind and she will be missed by all who knew her, especially by her husband, Joe and son, Nick (Melissa). Loving sister of Ronald Carpenter (Marylin) of Mount Brydges, and their children Jay Carpenter and Rhonda Jackson (and her daughter Zoey). Also survived by nieces, Erin Carpenter, Kerri Carpenter (and her daughter Kara Carpenter Forbes), and Jennifer Brock.  She was predeceased by her mother and father, Aretha (Greenley) and Albert ‘Key’ Carpenter, by her brother, Robert ‘Bob’ (Late Lynn MacCuspey) Carpenter, and by her sister, Diane Biernaskie. Respecting Sharon’s wishes, there will be a Private Family Memorial Service. The family wishes to thank the people who helped her through her long and painful ordeal including the staff from Care Partners; Greg, Rhonda, Kim, Tina and Nurse Practitioners Pauline Marcus and Danielle Simardi. We thank the PSWs who assisted Sharon in her struggle, mainly Roxanne, Crystal, April and Mary from Paramed, Simcoe.  They also wish to thank the people of Sakura House, Woodstock, including the nurses, doctors and PSWs who made her life bearable during her struggle at their compassionate facility. They would also like to thank Sharon’s caring friends, Jo Anne DeKlerck who sent beautiful flowers, Sonya Bastelak whom Sharon befriended many years ago, Cindy Gates who made her favorite cookies, Melissa Yazbeck who looked after our needs during Sharon’s ordeal and dearest friend Mark Smith. We would also wish to express our gratitude to MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for looking after her wishes. Memorial Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or VON Sakura House, Woodstock and will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
