Mr. Oscar Van De Walle of Delhi, passed away at his home peacefully with family on Saturday, January 6, 2024 in his 77th year. Oscar loved farming, watching sports, playing golf, gardening, playing games with his family, crossword puzzles, and a quiet fire on a summer evening. Oscar was involved in the Delhi Belgian Club, proud member of the 4th Degree, Knights of Columbus, Rev. Mike Dalton, Sacred Heart Assembly #2046, and coaching basketball. In his retirement, Oscar was a devoted "Papa", often visiting his seven grandchildren. Beloved husband of over 54 years of Gaye (Buckingham) Van De Walle. Loving father of Angela Van De Walle, Tamara Van De Walle (Brent Crocker), Sonia Mumma (Mark) and Medard Van De Walle (Jennifer). Cherished grandfather of Julia, Ryan, Vivienne, Matthew, Morgan, Lilith and Spencer. Dearest brother of Rachel Parker, Angel Crossman and Agnes McQuinn. Predeceased by his son-in-law, Jeff Fish (2012). Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Delhi on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
