Obituary of Muriel Atkinson

Mrs. Muriel Atkinson of Pinegrove passed away peacefully at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, on Thursday, December 14, 2023 in her 98th year. Muriel was a Proud Member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Simcoe for over 75 years. She was a very creative soul in writing short stories, sewing and crocheting but her greatest passion was with a paint brush creating her masterpieces in oils of landscapes and florals. She loved volunteering with Sunday School. Former Muriel Beatrice MacLaughlin. Muriel married Stanley Atkinson (1995) in October 1948 and together they raised six children: James Atkinson (Marsha), the Late Marlene Atkinson (2023), the Late Martin Atkinson (2022), Dean Atkinson, Dianne Crotta (Luciano) and Glenn Atkinson (Sharon). Cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Muriel is survived by several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by her three sisters: Margaret, Kathleen and Dorothy and by her eight brothers: Duncan, Andrew, William, James, Kenneth, Patrick and infants George and Fred. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Alan Feere officiating. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Who Did It Club (Simcoe) or the Heart & Stroke Foundation will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
