Obituary of Reg Vanden Berghe

In Loving Memory

 

Mr. Reginald Vanden Berghe of Courtland passed away at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Saturday, November 18, 2023 in his 72nd year. Reg was an avid fan of the Montréal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Notre Dame college football team. You could catch Reg on any given Sunday watching football, coaching from the sidelines and calling Todd to verify and update his coaching strategies. Reg always look forward to his annual fishing trip with his dear friends that continued the tradition for over 40 years. His friendships with his hunting group in his younger years was also something that Reg remembered with great pride. Reg was also an active member of the Belgium club in Delhi. Reg was very proud of his heritage and culture and passed that along to his children and grandchildren. Reg was a dedicated employee American Can in Simcoe, DDM Plastics in Tillsonburg, and Norfolk Disposal Waterford. Reg was a social person who loved to be engaged in discussion about sports, politics, and unions and never met an argument he didn’t like. Reg was also fond of watching his grandson’s play sports and would participate in their school activities over the years. Beloved husband of 50 years to Carolyn (Croft). Loving father of Todd (Trish) Vanden Berghe and Amy Bertling (Max). Cherished grandfather of Owen and Austin. Dearest brother of Randy and Gary (predeceased 1987). Predeceased by parents: Lucien Vanden Berghe and Elsie Morrow (Ken). Reg leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends both near and far. As well as his devoted and loving family in Belgium. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion Service to be held at 6:45 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ted Smith officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Lynedoch. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the War Amps of Canada will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
