Obituary of Manuel Mesquita
In Loving Memory
Mr. Manuel Marques Mesquita of Delhi, passed away peacefully with family by his side, at the Stedman Community Hospice, Brantford on Saturday, April 1, 2023 in his 78th year. Manuel was born in Barra de Mira, Portugal, on December 3, 1945. He first came to Canada in 1967, and eventually settled in Norfolk County where he grew tobacco for 29 years. Proud Member of the 3rd Degree Delhi-LaSalette Knights of Columbus Council #5095. Beloved husband of 53 years to Cecilia (Jorge) Mesquita. Loving father and grandfather of Tina Lopes (Joe) and their children Justin, Josie, Miley; Nancy Mesquita (Rui) and their children Sydney, Jasmine, Maya, Chloe; and Michael Mesquita (Aimee) and their son Jonas. Dearest brother of Fernanda Mesquita (Late Joao Goncalves, 1985), Maria Custodio (Mario), Cesar Mesquita (Ilda), Henrique Mesquita (Celia), Amelia Santos (Joao), and Joao Mesquita (Regina). Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and sisters in-law Alice Pereira (Late Jose 2017), Arminda Sousa (Late Carlos 2014), and his best friend Jack Ferreira. Predeceased by his mother Albina Marques (2002) and his father Mario Mesquita (2004). Manuel enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and tending to his garden. He was also an enthusiastic soccer fan and a lifelong supporter of Sporting CP. Manuel enjoyed hosting friends and family, sharing his culinary expertise and his infamous homemade wine. Manuel will be remembered for his generous spirit and sense of humour, he was always ready with a joke. He loved making his grandchildren laugh. The family would like to express their gratitude to his doctors, the Juravinski hospital, HCCSS, CarePartners nurses, CBI therapists, the Stedman Outreach Team and the staff and volunteers at the Stedman Community Hospice for their exceptional care. Thank you to extended family and friends for all of their love and support during Manuel’s journey. Memorial Donations to the Stedman Community Hospice, Brantford will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
