Obituary of Mary Botscheller
In Loving Memory
Mrs. Mary Botscheller (nee Friedrich) of Windham Centre, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her fields, family and friends on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in her 93rd year. She was born on March 23, 1931 in Kleinbetschkerek, a German settlement in Romania. Mary, who immigrated to Canada in 1949, spent several decades farming tobacco with her husband, Joe. She was a devout parishioner of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church in Waterford and was an active volunteer in her community. She was a proud member of the St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Women’s League, the Delhi District German Home, the Delhi District German Home Ladies Society and the Norfolk and District Multicultural Heritage Association. Mary’s family meant the world to her and she meant the world to them. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of their preschool years spending time with their Oma. Former Mary Friedrich, she was the beloved wife of the Late Joe Botscheller Sr. (2012). Loving mother of Mary Ann Backus (Don), Joe Botscheller Jr. (Karen) and Christine Tschirhart (Jeff). Cherished grandmother (Oma) of Tyler Backus (Jillian), Haley (Backus) Bolton (Blair), Curtis Botschelller (Chantelle), Drew Botscheller (Dana), Jared Tschirhart (Paityn) and Brent Tschirhart. Great-grandmother (Oma) to Beau, Kal, Laken, Reese, Lauren, Mackenzie and Blake. Also survived by her cherished nephews and nieces as well as extended family and friends in Austria, Romania, Germany and the United States. Predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Susanna Friedrich, by her father and mother-in-law, John and Anna Botscheller, by her brother Kasper Friedrich (Annie) and her sister-in-law Anna Wetzler (Nick). Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Delhi on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Stedman Community Hospice, Brantford or St. Bernard of Clairvaux Building Fund will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
