Obituary of Richard Lietaer
In Loving Memory
Mr. Richard Lietaer of R.R. #1, Simcoe passed away at the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home, Simcoe on Friday, February 22, 2019 in his 74th year. A proud Belgian, Richard was a third-generation tobacco farmer who golfed on Friday nights with his wife and played cards with friends and family. He had a fondness for old cars, especially Corvettes. He loved the music of local heroes Ronnie Hawkins and “The Band," and often told stories about seeing them play in area hotels. Most of all, "Poppy" got a kick out of watching his grandchildren at the hockey rink, the baseball diamond and in the gym. Beloved husband of Linda (Harwood) Lietaer. Loving father of Jason Lietaer (Laura) and Jackie Moore (Gary). Cherished grandfather of five grandchildren: Jack, Ty, Ava, Madison and Emerson. Dearest brother of Dan Lietaer (Anne) and Tom Lietaer (Shelley) and brother-in-law of Diane McElhone (Claire), Pam Harwood (Phil) and Randy Harwood (Gail). Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 for visitation on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Delhi on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Alan Dufraimont officiating. Private Family Inurnment in Otter Cemetery, Otterville, at a later date. Memorial donations to the Camp Trillium/Rainbow Lake or the Heart & Stroke Foundation will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
