Obituary of Ethel Balogh (Kapitany)

 

In Loving Memory

 

Mrs. Ethel Balogh of Delhi passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Sunday, February 10, 2019 in her 85th year. Ethel owned and ran Tri County Gas Station with her husband, Bill, for many years. She was also a busy volunteer with St. John Ambulance and Boy Scouts over the years. Member of the Rebekah Lodge 314 and I.O.O.F. Lodge 329. She enjoyed seasonal work outside of all sorts, but Ethel was a wonderful cook specializing in cabbage rolls and apple pie. Former Ethel Magdeline Kapitany. Beloved wife of William J. Balogh for 69 years. Loving mother of Caroline Hallows (Ken), Mark Balogh (Catherine) and Debra Puurunen (Eric). Cherished grandmother of Bekki (Wes), Derek (Mika), Lindsey and Elias. Dearest sister of Margaret Schooley O'Malley (Late Ron) and sister in law of Olive Kapitany (Late Greg). Also survived by several nieces, nephews and in laws in Saskatchewan and Ontario. Predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Mary (Tarr) Kapitany, by her brothers, Gregory, Willie and Lawrence, by her sister Marion Dankewich, by her sister in laws Annette Kapitany and Olga Kapitany, by her brother in law, Michael Dankewich, by her niece Melanie Dankewich, and by her nephew Larry Kapitany. As per Ethel’s wishes, a Private Family Funeral Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 to the Delhi Long Term Care Centre (Resident Activity Fund) or the Camp Trillium/Rainbow Lake will be gratefully appreciated by the family. Ethel wanted to extend a special “Thank You” to nephews Brandon Marques & Bob Schooley, niece Kathy Dankewich, grandson Elias Puurunen and her "good buddy" Ralph Van Royen and Cindy Deelan.
