Obituary of Tracey McGahey (Evans)

In Loving Memory

Tracey Lin McGahey (Evans) of Langton was taken from us far too soon on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Hamilton General Hospital at the young age of 48. Tracey was a delightful spirit who loved nothing more than to spend time enjoying the outdoors with her family at their northern property which was her happy place. While there she enjoyed everything from racing snowmobiles, ATV’s, campfires, fishing and playing on the lake. She loved to be outdoors not matter what the season, especially tending to her many gardens. She also took time inside for peaceful activities like scrapbooking, decorating for all holidays, colouring Easter Eggs and planning for her famous "green" St. Patrick's Day dinner. Tracey was incredibly self-motivated, completing her certification as a Millwright/Machinist, and then attended Marvel Hairdressing School to graduate as a professional hair stylist leading to opening her own salon; Tracey's Hair Salon for 18 years. She also took on several other entrepreneurial challenges. One of her proudest accomplishments was building and operating Southcoast B.B.Q. Fire Pits. Beloved wife of Greg McGahey for 23 years and loving mother of Owen, both of whom will miss her so very much. Cherished daughter of Arthur and Linda Evans (Sullivan) and daughter in law of Mike McGahey and Gwynne McGahey, and Sandee McGahey. Dearest sister to Jeffery Evans. She will be affectionately remembered by Grandpa Donaldson and Grandma Jean Donaldson. Adoring aunt of Kate Evans, Benson McGahey and Ella Parkinson. Fondly remembered by her brother and sisters in law; Riley & Christa McGahey, Melissa McGahey & Allan Parkinson. Also survived by several special aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family who she loved so unconditionally. Lastly but certainly not least, by her furry companion Copper, whose love for her knew no bounds. Predeceased by her Uncle Al Misner who was also her Godfather and the Master of Ceremonies on her wedding day to Greg. In consideration of the continuing health and safety of our friends and family, a Private Family Funeral Service will take place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date for extended family and friends. Memorial Donations to the Ronald McDonald House, Hamilton, Simcoe & District Humane Society, and the Who Did It Club, Simcoe can be made through the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) and will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
