Obituary of Cathy Gayed

In Loving Memory

Mrs. Cathy Gayed formerly of Delhi passed away at The Wellington Nursing Home, Hamilton on Friday, July 24, 2020 in her 97th year. Former Catherina Cornelia Dryber. Beloved wife of the Late Dr. Sobhy Gayed (1992).  Loving mother of Emile Gayed (Mary-Anne), Alfonse Gayed (Kim), Ernest Gayed and Victor Gayed (Debbie). Cherished grandmother of eight grandchildren: Ashley (Scot), Ryan, Shannon (Randy), Lindsay (John), Andrew, Matthew, Alysha (Nick), Amy and six great grandchildren.  Dearest sister-in-law of Ottie Dryber, Nagi Gayed (Millie) and Anetta El Gabalawy (Late Nagy). Also survived by several relatives in Canada, Egypt & Holland. Predeceased by her brother, Dr. Sander Dryber (2019) and by her sister, Nettie Heineman (Late Vim). Cathy is remembered for her strength of character, the love and sacrifices she made for her family and her witty sense of humour. She was very sociable, thoughtful, had many friends and was able to converse with anyone. She had a love of books and classical music and could often be found immersed in one of these passions. Cathy also had a strong faith and clear values which gave her strength and conviction. She loved her homeland The Netherlands and cherished the opportunities she had of returning to visit family, friends and familiar locations. In consideration of the continuing health & safety of our friends and family, a Private Family Funeral Service will take place with Pastor Vic Gayed officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Lynedoch.  Memorial Donations to the Alzheimer Society or to the Charity of your Choice can be made through the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (mfh.care) and will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
