Obituary of Edward Tortyna

Mr. Edward Tortyna of, Delhi, passed away at the Delhi Long Term Care Centre on Thursday, July 16, 2020 he was 92 years old. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local 736 & 721, and spent his younger years working on the construction of bridges and buildings in the GTA. In 1958, he and his wife moved to Turkey Point where they owned and operated the Green Booth for 28 years. He was an active member of the community and one of the founding members of the Turkey Point Business Association. He was also a volunteer and contributor to the annual Chicken BBQ’s which eventually funded the community playpark and became known as Turkey Point Summerfest. Affectionately known as “Teddy the Torch” for his welding and handyman skills, he could be counted on to help a friend with any job, and was always up for a good party after a hard days work. In his later years he maintained the grass for some businesses and neighbours in the community and could often be seen puttering on his riding lawn mower. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, along with his “Sunday drives”. Beloved husband of Joan (Asselstine) Tortyna, dear father of Marilyn Tribe (Joe), Brenda Roloson (Randy), Brian Tortyna (Dianne), and Jason Tortyna (Ashley). Cherished grandfather of Derek Roloson, Jennifer Roloson, Millie Tortyna and great grandfather of Rowan Roloson. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son, Blaine Tortyna (1996), by his sisters Millie Zaluski (2000) and Anne Lucko (2011), and by his brothers Frank (1983), Lloyd (1962), Stan and Nick.
