In Loving Memory

Mr. Val Persoon of Simcoe passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Monday, April 20, 2020 in his 90th year. Val spent a lot of time driving to arenas to enjoy his daughters skating and precision competitions. Val and Jean travelled extensively in Canada, United States, Europe, Africa and South America. He was a proud tobacco farmer and spent winters in Florida for 18 years. He kept his eye on the stock market and one of his greatest accomplishments was that he had read the entire set of encyclopaedias. In more recent years, he spent many hours enjoying the Simcoe Senior Centre, playing cards and socializing.  Beloved husband of Jean (Lauwaert) Persoon.  Loving father of Leanne Koopman and Heather Persoon-Rodriguez (Octavio).   Cherished grandfather of Nelson and Brennan Koopman, Mateo and Arjun Rodriguez.  Dearest brother of Simonne Persoon-Himschoot (Late George) and Marcel Persoon (Georgette) and brother in law of Percy Lauwaert (Rita), Anna Persoon and Erna Verhaeghe. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.   Predeceased by his parents, Adolf Persoon (1974) & Anna (Mariman) Persoon (1942), by his two sisters, Angele Persoon-Vercauteren and Adrienne Persoon (1941) and by his three brothers, Etienne (1942), Alfons (2011) and Gaston Persoon (2019). In consideration of the continuing health and safety of our friends and family, a Celebration of Life Memorial Mass is planned for the future.
