Obituary of Rev. John Langton
In Loving Memory
Rev. John Langton, B.A.,M.Div. of Delhi, passed away peacefully with family at his side, after a lengthy illness at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at the age of 75. John was a man who had many interests. He enjoyed woodworking, he was a voracious reader and he loved anything to do with trains. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time fishing, camping, gardening and travelling. His love of music spanned varied instruments and artists including the “Beatles”. John worked at many jobs over the years. The careers he enjoyed the most were working as an Ambulance Attendant and Driver in Bowmanville, Toronto, Kitchener and Lindsay. John was an ordained minister in the United Church of Canada serving a number of pastoral charges in Ontario. He also worked as a Chaplain in Correctional Services for a number of years. John had a keen mind, a quick wit and a good sense of humour. He was rarely lost for words. He was friendly and genuinely cared about people. The most important people in John’s life were his family. He enjoyed their company and he was always interested in their activities. Beloved husband of Reverend Judy Barker. Loving father of Shelley Langton-McAlpine (Mark), Jenny Langton and John Jr. "J.T." Langton (Dayna). Cherished "Poppa" of Oliver. Dearest brother-in-law of Heather (Late Garry 2022) and Diane (Gary) and special uncle to his niece, Alex (Jeff). The family would like to thank the many people who helped us during John’s lengthy illness: the staff at CarePartners who cared for John while he was at home, the amazing Doctors and Nurses at the Brantford Oncology department, the compassionate and kind Doctors and Nurses on the third and fourth floors of the Norfolk County General Hospital who cared for John in his final weeks; Bill, Larry, Debbie and our neighbours who gave a helping hand whenever and wherever it was needed; Margaret and Theresa whose patience, understanding and humour helped John immensely; to all the staff at Pharmasave, Nancy & Brenda, Mike’s Sub Shop, Home Hardware, Delhi Flowers, Delhi Library, CIBC, Delhi United Church, Paul’s Shoe Store, the Independent, Dalton White Farms, Emiel, and Tim Horton’s who helped John with patience, understanding and kindness adjust to life after he sustained a catastrophic brain injury in a car collision. Our apologies if we have forgotten to mention anyone. We will be forever grateful for your support. Friends may call at the Delhi United Church, 105 Church Street W., Delhi, for visitation on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. till time of Funeral Service held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
