Obituary of Stephen Benko

In Loving Memory

Mr. Stephen  Benko, formerly of Delhi and Tillsonburg, passed away at the peopleCare Delhi Long Term Care on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 in his 93rd year.  Stephen was a Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 153, Tillsonburg. He loved to play cards and billiards and travelled to different Legion Tournaments to compete. He was also an avid bowler and competed in many leagues. Stephen enjoyed fishing out on the lake and was always in search of “the hot spot” where the bass might be lying in wait. Beloved husband of the Late Delphine (Schockaert) Benko (1991). Loving father of Stephen Benko (Late Helen, 2022), Peter Benko and Andre Benko (Sandra). Cherished grandfather of Philip (Janelle), Amy (Mark), Zachary, Ryan and Erin (Blake) and great grandfather of Evan and Addyson. Dearest brother of Anne Gathercole (William). Predeceased by his seven siblings: Anthony (2021) (Late Jeanne, 2025), Nikolas (2015) (Late Godelieve 2022), Mary (2011), George (2009) and his wife, Shirley, John (2004) (Late Vera, 2024), Joseph (1995) and his wife, Anna and Charles (1969). Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Respecting Stephen’s wishes, a Private Family Service will take place with Inurnment in Delhi Cemetery.
