Obituary of Doreen Ratavicius
In Loving Memory
Mrs. Doreen “Doe” Ratavicius of Otterville, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 14, 2025 at the age of 60 years. She had an early passion for nursing, but transitioned to working as a research technician before choosing her greatest roles: devoted wife, loving mother and “Glamma”. In time, she and her husband became proud co-owners and partners in business, building a life filled with purpose and family teamwork. She wore her heart on her sleeve and had zero filter. If something was on her mind, she said it, and everyone loved her honesty, humour, and the way she never pretended to be anything other than herself. Her pups — Juju, Lulu, and PluPlu — were her babies. She adored them and they were her constant companions. She found comfort and meaning in little signs around her: cardinals in the yard, dragonflies drifting by, rainbows on tough days. Her favourite nights were the simple ones: dinner with her family, then watching TV or a movie (usually Yellowstone, Modern Family or something scary) with her husband and pups right beside her. She loved glamour and always wanted to look her absolute best — if her hair wasn’t cooperating, her whole day was off. She even had her husband trained to help put on her eyelashes. Her presence, her truth, and her unwavering love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Her memory will continue to guide and inspire her family for generations. Former Doreen Julian Rayner. Beloved wife and soulmate of Al Ratavicius. Loving mother of Nick (Johnie) and Stephanie (Cannon). Cherished ‘Glamma Doe’ of John. Dearest daughter of Darlene & the Late Gary Rayner (1998). Treasured sister of Carrie Roelens (Rod) and Alison Ebdon (Rory) and sister-in-law of Daiva (Ron) and Rasa (Marc). Also survived by her aunt, Joan VanParys (Late Chuck, 2017) and several nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her cherished son, Sam (2021), whose loss shaped her profoundly and whose presence she carried with her always. Also predeceased by her sister, Julie VanElsacker (2011), her sister-in-law Laima Ratavicius (1997) and by her father & mother-in-law, Ksaveras (2016) & Agota Ratavicius (2022). The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Regis, Dr. Thorogood and Suzanne Christo from CarePartners who gave Doreen great comfort and care throughout her journey.
