Obituary of Godelieve VanMaele

Mrs. Godelieve VanMaele of Delhi, passed away peacefully at the Delhi Long Term Care Centre, on Sunday, August 24, 2025 in her 93rd year. Godelieve was a Faithful Volunteer & Member of many organizations including the Delhi Belgian Club, the Delhi Friendship Centre, the Royal Canadian Legion Delhi, Branch #125, the Norfolk, Nursing Home Auxiliary, the Horticultural Society, the Delhi Tobacco Museum & Heritage Centre and Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Church and their Catholic Women’s League. Her Biggest Passion was with the “Silver Spokes Cycling Club” (Norfolk Cycling Club) in which she had won, several assorted Medals, Trophies, Honours & Awards over the many years of her loyal participation with the Club. Former Godelieve Maria Bardyn. Beloved wife of the Late Willy VanMaele (1990). Loving mother of the Late Anita Friesen (2025) (Bill). Cherished grandmother of Bo Friesen (Samantha) and great-grandmother of Peyton and Benjamin. Dearest sister of Suzanne Debackere (Late Paul) and Albert Bardyn. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by her sister, Margriet Maddelein (Late Gilbert) and by her three brothers: Maurice, Jerome and Andre Bardyn. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service held in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
