Obituary of Martha Scheers

Mrs. Martha Scheers of Delhi, passed away peacefully at the Delhi Long Term Care Centre, on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in her 103rd year. Martha was a Faithful Member of the Catholic Women’s League in Delhi for 85 years. She remembered when she joined at 16 years of age, it was only .25 cents! She was a Dedicated Volunteer to many groups. Martha’s world was her family and her life with her husband Steve on their Family Farm. Former Martha Gekiere. Beloved wife of the Late Steve Scheers (2006) for over 64 years. Loving mother of the Late Betty Verbuyst (2024) (Johnnie), Gary "Butch" Scheers (Mary) and Linda Mayo (Fred). Cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her two sisters: Marie (1922), Julia (2016) and by her four brothers: Gaston (1962), George (2010), Gilbert (1980) and Gerard (1991). Prayers said at 6:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Delhi on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Delhi Community Health Centre or a Charity of your choice will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
