In Loving Memory
Mrs. Irene VanWynsberghe, formerly of Delhi, passed away at the Fox Ridge Care Community, Brantford, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 in her 100th year. Former Irene Mary VanHooren. Daughter of the Late Alice (DeClerck) and Jules VanHooren. Irene was a past member of the Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Women’s League, the Ladies Auxiliary of both the Delhi Belgian Club and the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 125), and member of the Delhi Senior Citizens’ Friendship Centre. She loved to knit and many were recipients of her lovely sweaters and afghans. She also enjoyed playing euchre at the Friendship Centre but her favourite pastime was visiting the casinos and going on casino bus tours. Beloved wife of the Late Michael "Mitch" VanWynsberghe (1968). Devoted companion for 40 years to the Late Albert Blommaert (2009). Loving mother of Laurie Lelenka (John) and mother in law of Beth VanWynsberghe. Cherished grandmother of John Lelenka Jr., Charlene Newport (Robert), Ryan Michaels (Marcella) and Kaela Lawrie. Dearest great grandmother of Jordan (Jessica), Karissa, Logan (Logan), Elizabeth and Bethany and great great grandmother of Bo. Predeceased by her son, Richard VanWynsberghe (2022) (Late Kathy, 2009), by her grandson, Connor Newport (2017), by her brother, Robert VanHooren (1989) and by her sister, Agnes Nelson (1988). Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Andy Alway officiating. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Delhi Community Health Centre or the Delhi Senior Citizens' Friendship Centre will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
