Obituary of Maria Csöff
In Loving Memory
Mrs. Maria Csöff of Tillsonburg passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Monday, March 24, 2025 in her 95th year.
Maria was born in Mönchsdorf, Romania on November 26, 1930 to Michael and Maria Gondosch. Her early life during WWII was difficult but she and her family survived with perseverance and determination. She met her husband, Michael Csöff in 1947 and although they immigrated to Canada two years apart, they eventually wed in April 1951 and settled in Vienna to grow tobacco. Farming opportunities took them to Walsingham where Maria lived until she made the move to Harvest Retirement Home in Tillsonburg seven years ago. Maria was extremely proud of her heritage and frequently attended events at the Delhi German Home and Saxonia Hall in Aylmer where she thoroughly enjoyed dancing and reminiscing about the “old country.” She was always eager to share her experiences with friends and family. A dedicated member of the Long Point Lioness and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Maria devoted much time to her community and valued the faith and fellowship she found in her church. Maria loved her family immensely and never shied away from talking about them. She had a special place in her heart for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, just as she does in ours.
Beloved wife of the Late Michael Csöff (2014). Loving mother of Walter Csöff and Joe Csöff (Karen) and mother-in-law of Helga. Cherished Oma of Chrissy (Lyle), Joey (Trish), Christopher (Jillian), Tom (Alicia), Krista (Ryan), Gary (Kristina), Rick (Carly), Lindsay (Justin) and Sean, and Oma Minni to 21 great grandchildren ranging 5 months to 25 years. Maria is also survived by her brother Michael Gondosch (Maria) and sister Erika Wuschnakowski (Peter) as well as several nephews and their families. Predeceased by her sons, Gunther (2015) and Michael (2024).
