Obituary of Albert Kovacs

Mr. Albert Kovacs, formerly of Simcoe, passed away at Delhi Long Term Care Centre on Thursday, March 20, 2025 in his 102nd year.  Albert arrived in Canada at the age of two, with his mother Klara and older brother Dennis.  They went to Northern Ontario to live, working in the logging industries.  Later he came to Norfolk County, growing tobacco with parents.  In 1953 he married Rose, and they purchased a 25 acre farm a quarter mile north of Nixon.  Pops dug a drainage ditch with nothing but a shovel around the west side of the property for more drainage.  There they built a working vegetable farm:  growing asparagus, cucumbers, and roma tomatoes plus cash crops, soya beans and corn. Beloved husband of the Late Rose (Spanics) Kovacs (2019). Dear father of Margaret Vandekerckhove (Late Jim, 2022), Linda Kovacs (Joseph Dewaele) and Joseph Kovacs (Donna). Cherished grandfather of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Dear brother of Rose Fazekas (Late Julius, 1997). Predeceased by his brothers, George Kovacs (2000) and Dennis Kovacs (2004) (Late Florence, 2003). Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Andy Alway officiating. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the peopleCare-Delhi (Resident Activity Fund) or the Simcoe & District Humane Society will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
