Obituary of Helen Abare

In Loving Memory

Mrs. Helen Abare formerly of Bookton, Ontario passed away at the Delhi Long Term Care Centre with loving family at her side on Sunday, March 16, 2025 in her 87th year. She was a member of the Delhi District Hungarian Hall, DLTCC Ladies Auxiliary and the LaSalette Area Rural Roots Community Hall. Mom was a community volunteer and an avid gardener.  She spent countless hours canning preserves and cooking for her family. She loved spending time with her grand and great grandchildren and watching the birds hover over the flowers that she planted. Loving mother to Mary Ann Avey (Murray), Grace Keveryga (Randy), Steve Abare Jr. (Cindy) and Joseph Abare (Linda). Cherished grandmother of 14 grandchildren: Kristy (Dan), Keri (Carly), Stephanie, Melissa (Brad), James (Liz), Veronica (Mike), Lenny, Kyle (Megan), Alex (Ellyn), Stefan (Adrien), Daniel (Sabrina), Katie (Devesh), Joey (Lindsay), Jessie and 11 great-grandchildren: Rayanna, Samuel, Adelyn, Gracelyn, Lyncoln, Kane, Phoenix, Ivy, Kira, Grant and Codie. Dearest sister of Grace Kovacs (Late George) and John Gomori (Marg).  Also survived by several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by husband Steve (2012), daughter Helen (2022), son-in-law Paul Sunderland (2013), parents Paul and Teresia Gomori, step father Mike Fodor and two brothers Paul (1954) and Louis (2016). Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and for Parish Prayers at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Delhi on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Augustine officiating. Interment in Our Lady of LaSalette Cemetery.  Donations to the Delhi Long Term Care Ladies Auxiliary or the LaSalette Area Rural Roots Community Hall will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
