Obituary of Richard Sziklai
In Loving Memory
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Richard (Ricki) Jason Sziklai of Port Dover on March 10th, 2025, at Norfolk General Hospital, at the age of 56.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Born and raised in Delhi, Ricki spent his childhood on the family farm, where he developed a love for sports, playing hockey and football in his spare time. After graduating, he dedicated eight years to Corrections Canada as a Correctional Officer in Kingston. During this time, he also served as a volunteer firefighter and a member of the Emergency Response Team at Collins Bay Institution.
For the next 24 years, Ricki proudly served as a Constable with the Woodstock Police Service, following his deep commitment to serve and protect his community in solidarity with his Brothers and Sisters in Blue. His bravery and dedication earned him the Ontario Medal for Bravery in 2012, a testament to his unwavering courage. Known for his sharp wit and dry sense of humor, he brought laughter and camaraderie to family, friends, and colleagues alike.
Outside of work, Ricki cherished time with his family in the great outdoors, enjoying fishing, boating, and hiking. A devoted Toronto Maple Leafs fan, he rarely missed a Saturday night game. His presence, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Cherished and Loved
Ricki was the beloved husband of Wendy (Newman) Sziklai for 31 wonderful years. He was the loving son of John and Monika Sziklai, a devoted father to Nikki (Dylan) and Ben, and a proud grandfather to Mia, Harlow, and Tatum. He will be forever remembered by his brother Jeff (Michelle) Sziklai, his niece Lauren, and his many cherished cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and friends.
