Obituary of Iria Lukosius
In Loving Memory
Mrs. Iria Lukosius of Langton passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 3, 2025 in her 66th year. Iria was born in Zurich, Switzerland; the oldest of four. She moved to Canada at the age of 16, and in 1980 married her husband of 44 years, Edward. She turned their family house in Langton into a home where they nurtured their 3 children together. Iria had a way of welcoming everyone around their table and into their home. She always had hot coffee ready, and time to share a story or lend an ear. She also loved to host big parties and always found something that required a big summertime celebration. Every holiday throughout the year was made memorable by her passion for delicious food, tradition, and family sat snugly around her beautifully adorned table. When her children were growing up, she spent many years volunteering at Lithuanian Camp Kretinga in Wasaga Beach, where she was known as one of the best cooks in the kitchen. She also worked as an Educational Assistant for many years with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board, and eventually as co-owner of the family run Neighbour’s restaurant, in Port Rowan. Iria was best known for her uncanny ability to find treasures at all of the local thrift shops. She marvelled at nature and was always finding ways to support our natural ecosystem and learn about preserving the world around her. She loved finding “riches in the ditches”, and always saw the beauty in everything. However her favourite pastime was anything and everything to do with her children and grandchildren. She took time to build close and individual relationships with each of them and loved sharing in their passions. She loved each of them with all her heart and let everyone around her know just how extraordinary they were to her. Former Iria Birute Daniela Thoma. Beloved wife of Edward Lukosius. Loving mother of Karina Coelho (Ryan), Nikolas Lukosius (Melissa) and Rimas Lukosius. Cherished grandmother of Ronyn, Luca, Rafael, Madelyn and Noah. Dearest sister of Gaby Wasserman (Peter), Benno Thoma (Claudia) and Ronny Thoma (Tina). Also survived by several nieces, nephews & in-laws.
