Obituary of Brian Tortyna
In Loving Memory
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Brian Stephen Tortyna, a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this world on February 14, 2025, in his 57th year. He was born on November 4, 1968, in Simcoe, Ontario. Brian was raised in Turkey Point, where much of his youth was spent working at the beloved family restaurant, the Green Booth, playing sports and having mischievous adventures with his siblings. Family was everything to Brian. He leaves behind his cherished spouse, Dianne, who was his partner in every sense of the word. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter and joy. Brian will be fondly remembered by his siblings Brenda (Randy) and Marilyn (Joe) and Jason (Ashley). He is also survived by his mother-in-Law, Laura Pereira and his in laws Joe (Dorothy), Sandra (Danny) & Nelson (Sarah). His nephews & nieces Derek (Aileen), Jenn (Pete), Millie, Ruby, Alexis (Giordan), Harrison, Felicia (Kristofer), Victoria (Gabriel), Xavier and his great nephews Rowan & Henry. They will carry forward his legacy of kindness and laughter. He is predeceased by his beloved parents, Edward (Ted) & Joan Tortyna, his brother Blaine as well as his father-in-law Jose Pereira. Brian was a man of many passions, but he was perhaps best known for his love of the great outdoors. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, snowmobiling and ATV’ing where he made countless memories navigating the beautiful landscapes of his beloved Norfolk County. His adventurous spirit and zest for life were matched only by his generous and kind heart, always eager to share his experiences with friends and family. The love for his family and friends was evident in everything he did; he always put those he loved first, and his kindness knew no bounds. Brian was always there for anyone in need, ready to offer his help at a moment's notice. He was long-time employee of Norfolk County (Roads Department) and he will be fondly missed by his co-workers and friends. Known for his infectious laughter and quick wit, Brian had a joke for every occasion — especially his famous one-liners that could brighten even the dullest of days. He made friends wherever he went, effortlessly striking up conversations. As a true "big kid at heart," he lived each day to the fullest, reminding those around him to embrace life’s joys and to never take a single moment for granted. In honour of Brian, let us each strive to live life in the same exuberant and generous spirit he exemplified every day. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel at 5:00 p.m. We encourage everyone to wear Brian’s favourite colour Blue, and your favourite baseball cap. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations be made to C.M.H.A. (Brant Haldimand Norfolk) and will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
