Obituary of Archie Verspeeten
In Loving Memory
With family in his heart, Archie V. Verspeeten, age 92, passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2023 at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. Archie was born on February 21, 1931, in Woodslee, Ontario to the Late Isadore (1963) & Aimee (DeBock) Verspeeten (1953). Archie was a Lifetime Member of Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church (former St. John de Brebeuf). He served as a 3rd & 4th Degree, Knights of Columbus within the Delhi-LaSalette Council #5095. He was a supportive Lifetime Member, former President, and Board Member of the Delhi Belgian Club. Living his entire adult life in Delhi, Archie (and his Late wife, Irene), grew tobacco and created a successful trucking company. In the last 25 years, he returned to his roots of farming and shifted his focus to philanthropy. This became Archie’s passion, with sizeable donations made to various Medical Facilities in Southwestern Ontario. Beloved husband and best friend of 66 years to the Late Irene (Clarysse) Verspeeten (2017). Archie was the proud and loving father of Ronald (2022) (Lori), Dennis (Nancy), Brian (Marlene), Alan (2015) (Dianne) and Mark (Julie). Treasured grandfather of Scott, Carrie, Bradley, Craig, Melissa, Colin, Christine, Corrin, Kevin, Amy, Jordan, and 15 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his sister-in-law, Cecile Clarysse, as well as several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by his sister, Mary Huffman, and by his brother-in-law, Clare Huffman. Also predeceased by his brother-in-laws, Roger Clarysse (Laura) and Rene Clarysse, by his sister-in-laws, Blanche Hurd (Mac) and Shirley Clarysse. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Tuesday 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and for Knights of Columbus Service at 6:45 p.m. and Parish Prayers at 8:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Delhi on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Memorial Donations to the Delhi Community Health Centre or Campfire Circle (Camp Trillium) will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
