In Loving Memory
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Geoff Barron of Caledonia, Ontario, on March 19, 2026. A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished man, Geoff was a pillar of strength, kindness, and love to all who knew him. Born July 14, 1976, to Jack and the Late Margaret Barron (2026), Geoff grew up in Delhi, where he developed lifelong friendships and a love of sports. Whether playing, coaching, or cheering from the sidelines, sports were his passion and a way he connected with others. He was deeply dedicated and took great pride in supporting his son’s hockey and baseball teams in Caledonia. He was a devoted fan of his Leafs, Chiefs, and Jays. Geoff was the best friend, high school sweetheart, and beloved husband of Shannon (Van De Velde) Barron. He was a proud and loving father to Aidan and Alexis (Lou), and his family was the center of his world. He showed every day what it meant to be a supportive partner and devoted dad. He especially treasured time spent travelling with his family, with trips to Disney World holding a special place in his heart. He also found great joy in the companionship of his beloved Boston Terrier, Pepper. Geoff dedicated over 25 years to his work in the tube mill at ArcelorMittal Dofasco, where he formed many lasting friendships with co-workers who made each day enjoyable. Outside of work, he appreciated life’s simple pleasures, including cooking, fishing, and golfing with family and friends. He will be dearly missed as the beloved son-in-law of the Late Archie (2019) and Mary Van De Velde (2022); loving brother of John Barron; brother-in-law to Stacey Powell (Rob); and uncle to Liam and Avery. He is also fondly remembered by his uncle Joe Barron; aunt Jill Smith (Bert); cousins Becky Pollard (Doug) and Carissa Lundmark (Lonnie) and their families; as well as cherished by many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. A Private Family Service will take place. All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, May 8th, 2026 at the Caledonia Lions Community Centre from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m. The friendships Geoff built through his involvement in sports became lifelong connections that will continue to provide strength and support to Shannon, Aidan, and Alexis. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Geoff’s name may be made to KidSport through the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290, (www.mfh.care), and will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
